Field Hockey

Field hockey is a team sport played on grass or artificial turf, where two teams of eleven players use curved sticks to hit a small ball into the opposing team’s goal. The game is played in two halves, typically lasting 35 minutes each, and the team that scores the most goals wins. Each team includes a goalkeeper, who is the only player allowed to use their body or equipment to block the ball within the shooting circle. Field hockey is characterized by its emphasis on skill, teamwork, and strategy, with players employing dribbling, passing, and shooting techniques to outmaneuver their opponents. It is governed by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and has various levels of play worldwide, including youth, collegiate, and professional leagues. The sport is especially popular in countries like India, Pakistan, the Netherlands, Australia, and England. Field hockey is also featured in the Olympic Games and other international competitions.
